Images are processed locally when browser capabilities and current limits allow. Otherwise, the tool uses server processing when available. Supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, browser-decodable BMP, GIF as a still image, and HEIC/HEIF. Create separate static GIFs or assemble still images into one animation within current limits; animation requires server processing.

Why FastImageToolsHow It WorksLocal vs CloudFormatsFAQ

Why Use FastImageTools

Local-First Processing

Static images are converted locally when browser capabilities and limits allow. Animated GIF creation always uses server processing.

Instant Results

Review your settings and estimated file size before converting. No signup or email is required.

Clear Workflow

No signup or watermarks. Available file and batch limits depend on the current plan and processing route.

Animation from Images

Combine ordered still images into an animated GIF with a uniform frame rate, looping, and palette. Later frames are resized to the first frame.

How to Convert to GIF

  1. 1

    Upload Your Images

Drag and drop or browse your files. Upload multiple images to create an animated GIF, or a single image to convert to GIF format. Animated GIF creation always uses server processing.

  2. 2

    Choose GIF Settings

Choose static or animated output, frame rate, palette, looping, and dithering. Custom FPS and color count apply to server animations; disposal and transparent-GIF controls are not currently applied as labeled.

  3. 3

    Download GIF Files

Preview the result, then download your GIF individually or as a ZIP archive.

Browser-Based vs Cloud Conversion

FastImageTools (Local-First)

  • Images stay on your device by default
  • No upload wait for files processed locally
  • Handles large files locally when possible
  • Available limits depend on the current plan and route
  • Local processing avoids an upload when supported

Cloud-Based Tools

  • —Files are sent to a remote server for processing
  • —Speed limited by upload and download
  • —File and batch limits vary by provider and plan
  • —Pricing and batch access vary by provider
  • —Requires a stable internet connection

Supported Input Formats

JPG / JPEG

Photographs and web images. Convert to GIF for simple animations or universal compatibility. The GIF may be larger, especially for photos.

PNG

Screenshots and graphics with transparency. GIF supports single-color transparency. This tool flattens alpha onto a solid background.

WebP

Modern web format with excellent compression. Convert to GIF for broader compatibility. Animated input is read as one still image. The GIF may be larger, especially for photos.

SVG

SVG input is not supported by the current upload workflow.

AVIF

Next-gen format with superior compression. Convert to GIF for universal browser support. Animated input is read as one still image. The GIF may be larger, especially for photos.

BMP

Uncompressed bitmap images. Convert to GIF for smaller file sizes and animation support. The GIF may be larger, especially for photos.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does converting to GIF reduce image quality?+−
GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame, so photographs may lose color detail. For graphics, logos, and simple illustrations, GIF produces excellent results. For photographic content, consider WebP or AVIF for better quality.
Is it safe to convert images here?+−
Images stay in your browser when local processing is supported and within current limits. Otherwise, they may be sent to our processing server. Server-processed files are deleted within 72 hours.
What is the maximum file size I can convert?+−
Maximum file and batch sizes depend on your current plan, processing route, browser, and device memory. Files that exceed local limits may be routed to remote processing when supported.
How do I create an animated GIF?+−
Upload multiple images — they become frames in your animation. Set the frame rate, looping behavior, and color palette, then click Create GIF. You can reorder frames by dragging them. Animated GIF creation always uses server processing. Later frames are resized to the first frame without fit or crop controls.
Why is GIF limited to 256 colors?+−
The GIF format uses an indexed color palette with a maximum of 256 entries per frame. This makes GIFs compact but less suitable for photographic content. Use dithering to simulate more colors and reduce banding.
Does GIF support transparency?+−
GIF supports one fully transparent palette entry, but this tool currently flattens alpha onto white or the selected solid background. It does not create a transparent GIF.
Can I control how the GIF loops?+−
Animated GIFs can request infinite looping or one playback. The loop flag is written to the file, but playback behavior ultimately depends on the viewer.
Are my images uploaded to your servers?+−
Yes. By default, conversion runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly — your files stay on your device. If your browser doesn't support local processing, images are processed on our secure servers and deleted automatically within 72 hours of completion. Animated GIF creation always uses server processing.
