The metadata mode uses the date stored in supported JPEG or JPG EXIF data, not the file’s modified date.
The original image bytes and extension are preserved in renamed copies inside a ZIP archive.

Does this use the photo’s capture date or file modified date?+
It uses a readable EXIF capture date from supported JPEG or JPG files. Sorting by modified date is a separate option.
What happens when no EXIF date is found?+
With fallback enabled, the original base filename is retained. Always inspect the preview before downloading.
